To any and everybody who's following, I spent the last 4 days working on this with those who are opposed to it. Representative Ricks and I met with the lobbyist of the sheriff's association and worked out a five-point addendum this afternoon.  we keep the key points which is that the sheriff will not need to be involved in the move out accepted just clear the property and hand it back to the landlord. No more moving vans,  no more storage, No more auctions, no more unknowns or delays.

What happens next is that the bill and the amendments have to pass the Senate floor. Then it goes back to the house for approval. I talked with two senators after my meeting with representative Ricks in the lobbyist. They are very supportive of this bill and I could see it being voted on tomorrow or Friday possibly. I think it's looking good right now.

Hey thanks for being smarter than me and linking the video. Not a lot we can do right now. Representative Ricks will be working with the senators and the law enforcement contacts we have first thing Monday. The goal is to have the amendments in consideration as early as Tuesday cuz the legislature is closing down soon. What we are trying to get rid of is the landlord having to store a tenants property because they only leave junk if they know how to game the system.

We had a committee hearing a Boise in the Senate at 4:30 yesterday Friday. things were going well till law enforcement objected on safety grounds. Several senators told us that they could not sign off on something that law enforcement didn't feel good about. So they sent our bill to what's called amending orders. Most the time that's a death sentence for a bill. When I showed some shock, two senators assured me that they would make friendly amendments very quickly cuz they saw a need for this bill. There was a lot of support they just want law enforcement on board. So we had a half hour discussion with law enforcement and they want to be able to be the ones that deliver the notice after the eviction has been ordered, and then they want to be the ones that go and clear the property at the end of the three days. The Ada County sheriff that was there was adamant hat there would be a lot of trouble with some renegade landlord just went in at the 3-day mark and started moving stuff out. He said some tenants are so upset that starts shooting at people. So the sheriff wanted to do the handoff of the occupancy to keep everybody safe. That storyline whether you agree with it or not was bought and believed in by the senators. So we've got to make some amendments over the weekend and I'll be working on that. If anyone wants to look at Idaho code 63-11C, that's where they want to take away the requirement that we have to pay to store an auction the tenants items. The sheriff agreed that that's a lousey way do business. That's That's the main part of our bill anyway is to make this quick uniform and low cost. Any input?

Chairman Lakey has agreed to hear HB 461, the Idaho landlord eviction bill, tomorrow Friday, at 1:30 p.m. in the Idaho Senate Judiciary committee.  He had room for a handful of bills and there was more than 15 to be heard. He had to select a few. Because of your efforts he pulled one of his own bills to make room for our bill. If anyone can email the committee, you'll have to Google search Idaho legislature judiciary committee, to get their emails, there's nine of them, it would be greatly appreciated. Simply ask them to vote yes on HB 46 1. Thanks to all those on this forum that have helped get this bill through the house and now to the Senate committee. If we win tomorrow I am very confident it will become Idaho Law July 1

Frankly, we are on a cliff and I need one more favor.
HB 461, the Landlord eviction bill, is on a maybe list to be heard in the Senate Judicial Committee on Friday, the last day bills will be heard.
Would you write a quick email to Chairman Todd Lakey (you will need to format this it is :  tlakey  then put at sign senate.idaho.gov) and Co-Chairman Abby Lee (alee then put at sign then senate.idaho.gov) and ask them to please make HB 461 one of the bills that gets heard Friday?
There are other bills dealing with deposits and rent increases and some groups have placed our bill in with those bills. We need to tell them that our bill is actually the GOOD LANDLORD BILL. If you need a refresher, please watch this

Thank you in advance. Your help is critical-
