@Jonathan Stone Congrats! Keep in touch and let me know how the venture goes for you and your wife! I think it’s the right move for me to have a PM as well, but I won’t know that til I crunch some numbers!

@William Beck Super helpful information and all things I am currently investigating before I get started. As I mentioned, I have family who own a few spots so they have some data and numbers and experience they’re willing to share on those specific properties which will certainly help me make a decision!

@Zachary Beach Thanks! The cutting into cash flow was just something I’ve heard from others. Personally, I’m not sure I have the desire to manage properties myself especially if I plan to purchase multiple - so having a property manager is almost a must for me. I certainly see the value!

@Robert Carter Thank you, Robert! It is great to hear positivity surrounding the industry. Like I said, I have family involved in the vacation and STR business, and I've already met a few experienced investors on this forum who are willing to share their insight and expertise. It'll be an exciting journey and I can't wait to learn more and get started!

@Christina Hennessy How funny, I am from Albany as well! Small world. I haven’t really thought much about using Airbnb myself. I feel like that is something I wouldn’t mind doing - it is the maintenance on the property I’m not really interested in doing myself, which would be hard from afar. But it sounds like your situation works!

@Jay Cortes thanks! I have heard this to be an issue. I am uncertain about the properties my family owns, but I certainly appreciate the feedback. I have checked out a few places and have particularly focused on the properties where my family currently owns condos (simply because they’ve been there, done that), but I know eventually I’ll want to expand to other properties, so this information is helpful. Thank you!

@David Stokley Thank you! I am not married to the idea of vacation destinations and would love to expand beyond that. I only chose to focus on those because of having close family familiar with the area. However, once I get my feet wet, I would 100% be open to different areas around the country!
