When I was on vacation in Hawaii I met a man from Georgia who rents out to and loves section 8. I asked him if he was worried about potential problems with tenants and he said no because if you report them for wrong doing they can lose their section 8 privileges. He also said they always pay their rent on time. I am still new and trying to gather as much info as possible to start investing so take what I say as mere thought provoking and not anything solid. I would love to hear some feedback on what he told me.

I would think about what side of town you are on. 30 min west of Houston is completely different than 30 min east. My mother works an office at an RV park 30 min east of Hoiston and it is booming because of all the temporary work that comes into the factories in that side of town. But to the West is yuppy land where that sort of business would not work. Also 30 min north is different than 30 min south.

welcome
I started the other day and am also from Houston. I also enjoy home brewing/distilling, fishing, and this is going to be my first hunting season. Going to start off done and duck around Galveston when real season starts.

I live on the East/NorthEast side of Houston Texas. I plan on investing buy myself to get a single family unit 3/2 as a rental. I can afford the $70000 to 1000000 price range. Generally speakin, would this be a viable place to start, considering all other factors being good. Also, how much could I realistically charge for rent.

So far I have not heard anything bad about LU and that most people who have used it recommend the basic but not so much the upper tiers.

Hellow everybody,
I found this website while searching for honest reviews on Lifestyles Unlimited and am happy I found such a resouce. I live in Houston and work a lot in a car so I listen to talk radio everyday. I probably won't post much in the message boards till I have educated myself enough to ask the right questions. My goal is to eventually own multiple rent houses and to be able to generate a little income but preferably a lot from them, then possibly go from there. I have a degree in financial accounting but had no desire to be a slave during tax season, so I went into sales and I am fairly successful at it and enjoy it.
