John - first there are not thousands - and the proposal is to only an individual whose efforts brought a contact to our attention and arranged for a walk true approved by us! So your premise has No bearing on how this is being marketed!

Russell thank you for your comments.  And, Not being a Lawyer I am not sure I could legally state what you said as truth.

I believe - Executive Branches cannot make law!  Governors can not make a law anymore than Obama's executive orders were simply regultions his czars could impose.  Yes I believe making a regulation can be done - and that can be annoying - but I question IF it is a law?

I think I am too old to run for office.....but maybe the public Needs people on their side.  They do not need politicians (who get campaign money from donors  -who want what they want!

incidently here is an interesting article - and may just answer this - in other way.

Hi Harrison.....is this a State Law or a "regulation" of the Real Estate commission.  And, is the Real Estate Commission licensed by the state to speak on behalf of citizens of that state?  Sounds very much like trying to restrict the Sale of Property between a home owner and Buyer.  That does not sound like it could ever be Law!  what do you think?

Russell I am sure you think you are correct in your assessment of this potential transaction.  But I cannot see why this is in the Public Interest - if the agreement to make a consulting payment is between to consenting adults.  Can, you really?  Personally it appears like you are speaking Realtor Talk!

We are not trying to bypass the cost of having a realtor....as we will employ one in the process of finishing the sale to the contact that has been given to us by a person that very possibly in not even in the real estate business. We are trying to make better use of resourses. Having someone who things more out of the box than a typical realtor is utmost in our thinking and they deserve to be paid for bringing a contact to us.

After All Realtors share contacts with other realtors contantly. Without contacts Real Estate Selling could not exist.

I hope to have some others weigh in on this conversation.  So far out of many - investors, money management people, attornies and others No one of them have objected to the Consulting Fee.   What do You Say?

Thank you all for the advise.  Russell sounds like the NATIONAL REALTORS ORGANIZATION IS CALUTING TO MAKE THIS SEEM NOT LEGAL!  Maybe there is a law about this?

Repeat Christopher...you have not answered!

What does tactically mean? Does this mean one home owner cannot make a sale to another individual - unless they are a realtor? That would be Big Guy Against little guy Predudice - and likely again the discrimination laws! What Do you Say?

"Can I as a Home Owner - legally offer a Fee - to Anyone Who Refers A Buyer For a Property I Own, That Results in A Sale?

This is a 5 bedroom Beach Front Property on a Small Florida Island. Would make a Good Investment For A Business Enity to Use for Entertaining Clients for a Weekend Stay On the Beach.  Or an International wanting to move money to the U.S.A.
