@jenna

How wild--- I'm from Columbia-- and was looking there recently.  What part of town?  What's your minimum number of nights?

and Charlotte, same questions.

I haven't personally had a problem with it,  I'm a block off haywood in W Asheville, very walkable, very visable.    The city has been on a witch hunt.  (guess to keep all hotel people happy).    40+ hosts in one small neighborhood were turned in, not because of a real problem, but by a "do-gooder_ who had looked up all their listings, compared that with tax records, etc and sent it in.

The city voted to allow an owner to have up to 2 bedrooms for airbnb, and the like.  BUT--  you have to be there to babysit your guests.   Yep.  And no whole house, or basement apt, garage apt, or cottages even on the same property.      It's really been a huge fight with most of old city council being against.

Now we'll have annual fees, inspections (tho against NC law for landlords to be inspected, no matter!) --   and it goes on.   Big reason I was planning on moving, is no opp to scale it, on any level like that.
