@Chloe Landon To be frank, I ride Lyft/Uber all the time and if the driver told me they're also a real estate agent in casual conversation, I'd question their success. I barely have any time for myself, let alone a side gig driving people around. But if do you need the additional income, I think it'd be a great fit as it's so flexible. I would not depend on it to give me clients though.

I completely agree Ivy. Needed for the time being, but will be used to further my RE goals and will tread carefully when I am asked about my other job. I was concerned about what kind of light it would paint me in. Thank you. :)

@Van Blackman, So much YES to everything you said!!! I loved Uber in the begining, grew to hate it a bit, felt like I was missing out, etc. And their treatment of drivers is completely UNFAIR. But I was thinking the same thing! Using Uber as a means to an end. Only temporarily until I become more established, knowledgeable and comfortable. Thank you everyone!
to clarify, I already AM a registered Uber driver. I am very familiar with the system. There are are times of high profitability and low times. I think it would be worth it to have it be my side job. I can stop taking trips whenever I want, whether its for 5 minutes or just to stop and eat. I'm just concerned about how it may portray me to my riders, potential clients, my peers. Again, I would never target any of my riders, but if the conversation naturally gravitates to the question I commonly hear, "So do you have another job when you aren't driving?" I could tell them that I am a real estate agent and decided Uber was a great, flexible job, that helps me be a full time Real estate agent, and also helps me learn even more about my city.
I just finished my pre licensing course to become a real estate sales agent. I am now aware of the need to budget money in between sales, to attempt to protect you from being broke. I currently work 2 jobs. Once I pass my state exam, have a broker, etc., I want to continue to work one job to make sure I have back up income in between sales. But I don't want to be held back from succeeding by being unavailable %50 of the time. I am also a registered Uber driver. What are your thoughts on being a Real Estate agent and an Uber driver? I think it would be an awesome option of making supplemental income and having a "job" that would allow me to take a call and be available at a moment's notice. I would in no way pitch to every rider that gets in my car. But when natural conversation comes into play, as it does the majority of the time, I think it would be a great way to protect myself financially and further my success as an agent.

Thank you all SO MUCH for taking the time to respond to me. This week has been hectic. Got a new job as a server and I think I will be making pretty good money. Shifts here can last only 3 hours and I walked out with $70. Looking for a morning serving job to add to that. Overall, I could only be working 30-40 hours a week and almost doubling my previous income. (Why didn't I do this before?!? Lol)

Anyways, let me collect my thoughts, I need to write a schedule out for work time, baby time and brainstorming "dream" time. I will get in touch asap.

I admit, I have to condition my brain to start treating RE brainstorming as business and not just a hopeful hobby. I have a habit of not investing enough time into things that don't give me immediate results. WORKING ON THAT. :)

I appreciate that. I want it, bad. The only thing I am concerned about is the amount of information I need to retain to consistently be successful.

You are right, no answer here is going to be "the answer". I guess I'm honestly looking for affirmation. I know what I need to do. Just need to dive in, research research research, aquire skills and learn as I go. Well, here goes nothing. ;)

I have been up all night, researching. Successful people, tips, college options. Everyone has an opinion, but I can't be confident in making a decision without speaking to someone personally. I can't remember the exact title, but the college route I would take would be "Business in science of real estate investing".

I am interested in college so that I could learn the basics, terminology, all the rules in real estate and investing, etc. I could get a job in this field where I could continue to learn and make good income to put into this dream of mine. But is it worth it? Could I learn just as easily from personal research and following the path laid out from people who have already done it? Could I also get my real estate license to use as a tool? What is the most efficient or beneficial option?

I know this is not a "get rich quick" endeavor. It is going to take a lot of hard work. But I feel time slipping away, every moment is precious to me and I don't want to waste valuable time when I could have made a more logical and timely choice.

I'm dying to meet with someone who knows what they're doing. But I have no idea who I would even look for. A realtor? And how do I go about asking someone to give me their time?

I am 25 years old. The only job experience I have is 4 years of management at Little Caesars. I have an amazing work ethic and a HUGE determination to get into real estate investments with the goal of achieving multi family homes. I am a new mom who now sees the path that her daughter could be heading down; broke, living paycheck to paycheck and breaking your back to fill someone else's pockets.

Like any parent, I don't want my child to ever struggle the way her parents and grandparents have. But I'm am filled with a blazing determination, confidence and resolve that I am about to break that cycle and WILL NOT let that happen to her.

Please, someone point me in the right direction.
