I am having a similar problem. You can't search by region or interest first, and have to insert a keyword (which is basically just a guess on the terminology they use in their profile). Then, you can't really even narrow by region because there is no radius function (e.g., you have to guess which of the 500+ zipcodes in the Bay Area they are in, or if you narrow to "San Francisco," other local cities like Oakland or Palo Alto won't come up).
