Post: LLC formation

Looking to form an LLC with a partner to begin our real estate investing business. Any comments on how much this costs to start/maintain, and where to go to get set up? There are obviously online sites that claim to be able to help set up an LLC, but any advice on the subject from the BP community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Vrajesh,

I've got the same question as you.  From what I can tell, it seems that much of central NJ is expensive in terms of price/rent ratio.  I started looking in Edison, since that's where I grew up, and I've also looked into Rahway/Cranford area, which could offer better opportunities, but I can't say for sure yet.  I'm willing to do the research to find a good deal, but it would be great to have a bit of direction in terms of location.

Just wondering what areas on central/northern NJ are offering reasonable buy and hold opportunities?  Seems like a lot of the market is overpriced.

Hello,

I'm a 46 year old living in NYC with a wife a two small kids.  My goal is to build a real estate rental portfolio that can provide a reasonable amount of cash flow in the medium term (5 - 7 years).  My wife (39 years old) loves her job and plans to work until at least 55 when she will be eligible to start collecting her pension.  My long-term goal is to achieve financial independence through semi-passive real estate income combined with my wife's salary.
