Generally speaking, if your residency is based in California you will pay CA income tax on all your income regardless of where it is earned. If you form an LLC anywhere other than your home state generally you have to register the LLC in your home state as a foreign LLC. Often, this requirement will outweigh any possible advantages you'll have of setting up an out of state LLC.

Good morning BiggerPockets network,
My name is Chris. I have been on BiggerPockets for a couple months now reading forum posts and listening to podcasts. I am a CPA that was in public accounting for two years before joining a commercial real estate company. Prior to that I have had careers in consumer finance and investment management.
I have been so happy making the switch from public accounting to real estate. Now I want something for myself. I want to build something that my children can be a part of as they get older and can be passed down to them.
I am interested in networking with local realtors, lenders, contractors, attorneys, property managers and anyone else who can help me build a successful real estate business and in turn I help them as well.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Chris
