@Katie Hole -- thank you so much for your reply. Wow I really didn't think STR PM would be that high. Good to know. Have you made any general decisions about STR based on your research so far (areas, property types, property size, price range, etc)?

@Chris Rosenberg -- thank you as well for your reply. Bummer about STR PM costs, but definitely better to know now. I'm actually getting ready to travel down to MB, perhaps this weekend for a week, so would love to hear more about your experience, and you are from NYC too !! Just sent you a connect request

Hey -- thank you Katie! I live in NYC currently, and Myrtle just keeps calling out to us as a great option. I think I'll come down there to visit asap later this month. I'm also trying to finalize some financial projections in the meantime... we're thinking maybe a 1 or 2BR for short term rental. It's my first property so I'd want to start on the smaller / safer side probably and see how things go first. I have many many questions of course, and would to just hear anything you'd like to share about your experience, especially things that would apply to that area specifically. :) A couple things are jumping out, top of mind:

  1. seems like HOA can be pretty steep? seeing ~$600+ / mo for some of these complexes
  2. in terms of short term rentals ... do you know of any unique restrictions, laws, battles over short term rentals in any specific areas?
  3. what do you think would be a good amount to budget for PM?
  4. any other unique advantageous or disadvantages to the area that might not be so obvious for an outsider?

Thank you!
Chris

Hello awesome Bigger Pockets community --

We're new investors with a location shortlist that includes Myrtle Beach, SC, and we really want to connect with BP members who have recent experience or interest there!

We're planning to buy the first property within a couple months and very much want to connect with people who are familiar with the market, especially folks who are members of this great BP community. As of now, we still need an agent, PM, etc. and also very open to new friends and colleagues who just want to grow their network and potentially work together someday.

Hope you're all having a great year, with lots of learning and memories along the way, as you travel down such an interesting and courageous path!

Best,
Chris
