Thanks for the reply Charles. I'll have to look up the book, and as for the website of J Scott's, its pretty amazing. I'm only hoping that I don't get too overwhelmed and discouraged. Maybe I'm in over my head but this is something that I would really like to do, I just don't know much about it. But Thanks again and I'll be sure to do my research.

Hello everyone.

I'm new here and also very new to the real estate investing world. I'm actually at the very beginning, curiosity and intrigue. So I was wondering, is there any books that you would recommend for newbies?
The area I would like to focus on would be buying fixer-upper homes and remodeling them.

I don't have very much experience fixing up homes myself so I would need to find a book about the basics: flooring, electrical, plumbing, heating and so on. Being able to work with my hands and see the rewards before my own two eyes gets me excited.

I'd also need a book about finances. I took a first time home buyers class but if I could find any info about, loans and interest rates and the ins and outs of how to work with real estate agents, that would be helpful.

Also I'd need to find some info or a book about renters insurance, property insurance(those might be the same things, not sure), how to draw up a decent lease and so on.

Basically I want to just start at the beginning and work my way up with as little slip ups as possible. So if anyone out there at all reads this and has any knowledge or literature worth sharing, please, feel free. I'd really appreciate a gentle push in the right direction and some guidance as well.

Also, I've tried to get a few friends and family members to teach me what they know about construction and or renting but it just isn't working out. Most everyone is too busy or maybe they're too greedy and don't want to spill their secrets, not sure, but whatever the case may be getting a mentor in person just isn't working out.
