Thank you everyone for being awesome and welcoming. You've given me some good recommendations on books and some areas to start researching.

Thanks for the input @Paul Higbie and I agree with you. All of those aspects seem to me like an excellent area for the long term.

A follow-up question: What resources do you use when examining a potential market area?

I've looked at fred before and I've gone as far as to pull up crime statistics for a given neighborhood.

Hey there, as the title states, I'm brand new to real estate. I've recently discovered the Bigger Pockets community and I'm hoping that I can be a positive member here. And I'm looking to soak up as much knowledge and guidance as I can absorb. It's not a location option but I'm based out of Springfield, MO.

If you have experience with house hacking, BRRRR, or flip-and-hold strategies then I would love to connect with you about your processes and systems. Bonus points if you enjoy hockey!

Cheers~
PS: tell me about some of your favorite books that I might pick up on physical or audio. :D

Hey there - this is my first post and all.

I'm curious if anyone here has experience buying in the Springfield, MO area and if you'd be willing to share your experiences. Southwest Missouri is a market that I'm most interested in at the time due to it being my current area. If you have any stories regarding house hacking and buying properties for rental that'd be a bonus.

Cheers~
