I need some general advice, I'm 19 and living at home. My expenses are low. I work for the family business and make about $40k a year and have about $30k in savings. Now my biggest issue is I come from a very dramatic and volatile family so if all stays well I could be looking at a substantial salary in the future or if someone in the family decides they don't want me around anymore, which is a real possibility, I could have to start over and find a new career. My goal would be to someday run a farm large enough to support myself and a family, but farming is an asset rich and cash poor business. so, I need some other way to acquire the funds to support this venture. How do I increase my worth to someday be about to acquire the farm I want but also be prepared to lose my job? What are some things I should do?
