Right- excuse my terminology mistake. I am actually most interested mostly in tax deeds, not liens, and big ones where I feel I can re-position a property. I can reposition properties, I just am interested in finding opportunities through takes deeds or liens.

My understanding is that they are generally listed online, or at least there is a way to access a list of property that have tax liens. I am specifically interested in Virginia.

I am having trouble finding anything truly instructive online. Does anyone have any tips, resources or ideas for me?

Appreciate the help!

There is a new walmart near a property I am looking at. Does anyone have experience with properties near walmarts and how a superstore might affect them?

Thanks, Russell. Yes, the REIT I work for is publicly traded!

Thank you, Damien. We are mostly focused on finding a residential house in the District or Clarendon, single family or multi-unit, so long as it is under 5 units. What about you?

Do you have any recommended posts or places I should look? I am totally new and still finding my way around.

Hello all,

My name is Colin Thomas. I am a new member from DC who was referred to this website by a friend who has used this site as a great resource. I am an acquisitions analyst for a prominent REIT in town, but hope to begin making my own acquisitions and building my own capital on the side. My partner and I are interested in buying houses in DC/NOVA and also would love to contribute what we can. I am excited and look forward to learning about new ideas and meeting new people.
