Hypothetical/ asking for a friend question here. Say I find the perfect deal on a duplex that I want to house hack. One tenants rent covers the mortgage cost. But there are current tenants in both sides and their lease contracts for the next 6-7 months. I want to take out a FHA loan on the property and move-in in 3 months because my lease is up at that time.

In this scenario,
Because I need to move in, and live in the home for a year to take out a FHA loan and I have to keep the current lease in place, is there anyway to get around that? Or am I out of luck on the particular property?

Any feedback is very appreciated!

@michealward I plan on working in Bentonville but a job in Rogers is a possibility to. So anything within a reasonable commute is fine with us.

@Jamie Atkinson Yeah we really do love the area. My wife's parents own a lake house on beaver lake so we have spent a lot of time in the area. I will be working in Bentonville, so either in Bentonville, Centerton, Bella Vista, Rogers, Springdale, Lowell or Fayetteville. Anything in driving distance of Bentonville.

Hello Bigger Pockets Podcast Family! My name is Colton Looper and I am a young and enthused future real estate investor. My wife and I live in OKC right now but will be moving to NW Arkansas in June. I am a teacher and a coach and wont be moving until the school year is up. My wife and I are hoping to purchase a duplex or triplex to live in one unit and rent out the others. If you know where to find deals or have any advice for a beginner into the real estate world, it would be very appreciated! Thank you.
