The landlord was not benefiting at all , he was just an ignorant innocent victim unfortunately ! He didn't even know that he had to report if a he suspects an illegal activity going on at his place. He didn't even know that it is illegal and fraud !

I heard it as a word of mouth from one of the RE agents . I don't have a link to the story . It seems that the boyfriend was using the house as his residence . His BMW just brought some attention and led to more investigation as to whom really live there in the house.
