Hi and thanks to all for your welcome.

The reason we mentioned retirement areas was because of reading several articles on best areas to retire. We need to read a lot more before actually jumping in. The places mentioned earlier had excellent ROI and low taxes and the thoughts were that baby boomers may head to these areas and therefore increase the home values in the future.

I have five more years before I can receive my pension. My wife is seven years from retiring. We have 450K in the stock market now, which 2014 has not been a great start. We could use additional monthly income for the next five years to keep from spending our savings. We thought real estate might be a great way to go. We also had thought condos or smaller homes, buying outright and holding for 5-10 years possibly longer for the added income as well as resale. Which areas or what type of real estate, we do not know as yet and hopefully get a partial education on this site.

Remember hearing many years ago about friends of friends doing very well, buying triple dockers in Worcester, MA. Most of these homes are quite old and am afraid these might be endless headaches without costly updates and repairs.

Hello, My name is Dana and I am trying to get into real estate investing. We have been considering condos or smaller homes. Have done some reading about Delaware and Deltona, FL great retirement areas with low taxes. Have no experience and am looking forward to asking a lot of questions. This forum looks like a great place to learn.
