Post: New to Bigger Pockets! Looking to Invest in the Towson Area

Hi Ellis,

I completely agree and appreciate your advice! I am very interested in house hacking and investing in a property possibly near Towson University but as I asked around I have been told to attempt a flip in order to make the money to purchase a rental property but I am unsure if that is accurate and I feel as if attempting to flip a property when I do not fully understand the process and the numbers would be quite risky. I would like to get involved not only because I am passionate but also to better my future and I do not want to receive incorrect information and possibly put myself in debt, which I am sure you completely understand! I would absolutely love to assist a more experienced investor and get a better feel for the whole process. I will be looking in to that, Thanks again!

Hello Michael,

Thank you so much for welcoming me in to the community! I am actually originally from Baltimore County but I moved out on my own to Wesley Chapel, Florida for the past two years and I just moved back to the Towson area to be closer to my grandparents and help take care of them. Oh okay I am familiar with the brandon area I used to go to class out there It is very nice and I definitely miss the Florida weather. And that sounds amazing, Thank you!

Thank you Dan! I am very interested in both fix and flips and obtaining rental properties. I have been advised it would be smart to focus on a flip first in order to make the start up money to invest in a rental property and due to the fact that I am very new to this I have had a little trouble in deciding where to start and what I need to do to get the process started.  I apologize for all the questions I am very passionate and just want to improve my knowledge in the matter!

Hi everyone , I have been listening to BP podcasts and reading various forums for quite a few years now and I finally decided to join in on the conversation! I am a 20 years old and will be graduating next year. I recently moved back to Maryland from Tampa, Florida. I am currently working full time and I have done the same all throughout college. I am very new to the real estate business and I am very eager to learn as much as possible before getting my foot in the door. I am interested in fix and flips as well as single family homes to rent out to college students. I have been looking in the Towson and Baltimore area for the last 6 months. I do not have a ton of capital but I am very passionate about real estate and I spend all my spare time researching and trying to find a way to start as soon as possible at a young age without any help. Any advice is greatly appreciated and I cannot wait to get started. Thank you in advance and I am so happy to be a part of the BP community!!
