Hi BP, I'm looking to purchase my first multifamily property, along with my brother, for long term buy and hold by December 2017 or earlier. I am starting to put my team together and would like to know how I should go about connecting with a CPA. What sort of questions should I ask them? How would I be able to afford them? Thanks for your help. Dan Keywords: Massachusetts

I've been working at a university for the past 5 years. I was fortunate enough to to get a job there right after graduating (from a different college) with a BS in Business Administration. I started as an admin coordinator. Initially I thought I had made it and was going to be moving up in the ranks and receive a great salary because I did what I was told: Go to college, get good grades, and get a job. Plus anything beats waiting tables as I did thru out college. Fast forward to today and I've been doing the same type of work (admin support for faculty) with a small increase in pay and a title change. I've learned that in this environment hard work only leads to more work. I recently got my real estate license to increase income and then by fate my friend turned me on to BP which led to Rich Dad Poor Dad and my mindset has been altered. I now realize that I am not a student and thus really have no interest in the higher Ed field but am a damn good "employee". I understand I am fortunate to have the opportunity to get a Masters degree but like I said, I'm not a student. I am stuck. I do not want to do the same mindless work anymore and want to create wealth and financial freedom. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hey Lusi,

Congrats on your accomplishment. I recommend checking with the MA board of registration  and or the RI board to see what the policies and procedures are.

Good luck.

Dan

Thanks, Matt. I actually listened to show 162 this morning and they were talking about LLCs and had referred to what you had mentioned. I'm taking the test this weekend. I enjoyed the classes and am ready to start. How about you? What's your plan look like? Best, Dan

Welcome Tyler! I too have been recently introduced to the BP podcasts and so glad I was. I'm currently in the process of receiving my MA real estate license and my brother has been an agent for a number of years now. We are eager to start investing and are welcoming any advice or suggestions. We are focusing on multi family properties in the Northern Boston suburbs. We would both be first time property owners.
Should we form an LLC ? Looking forward to responses. Thanks
-Dan
