Thanks @Irfan Raza. Do you ever consider building another level up instead of digging below or does that tend to cost more?

I purchased an investment property in Philly that I want to rent in about a year. The basement is about 5 ft and I want to dig it down to 8 ft for a laundry and extra bathroom. Is digging a good idea? Does anyone have any pros that are great at this type of adventure?
