@Account Closed Where are you planning on building your shipping container home? Where does your mentor do business? Is there any chance you could connect me to them? I am aware of the "mordita" from the police/cartels but obviously any guidance would help me. Thanks.

@Trudy Pachon Oaxaca sounds amazing. Como va tu español? So you are renovating a place and then renting it out? How are the short term regulations down there?

@Troy Sheets It is very complex and depends if you want to own as an individual or business. I am exploring both and learning a tremendous amount including some hacks. Let me get to launch and I can share more on my experiences to help you succeed in Mexico.

@Trudy Pachon Sounds amazing! What attracted you to Oaxaca? I heard that is the home of mezcal right? Yes, snail pace is a good way of describing things in Baja, California as well. Lots of bureaucracy and much less capitalist than the US (which is a good and bad thing).

@Troy Sheets Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Have you constructed any of your own shipping container projects?

@Bruce Lynn Thanks for sharing those links. Very useful. Really surprised that Dallas has embraced shipping container projects. Re: San Diego - not a progressive city, too long to get projects like this approved and cost of real estate way too high. Tijuana is much more progressive, cheap real estate and a faster growing market. People are talking about Tijuana being San Diego's next hot suburb. Ownership is easy if you know how.

I want to build a shipping container community in Tijuana, Mexico. Guests will be able to stay for as little as 1 night. Does anyone have any best practice ideas for shipping containers or modular/prefab construction techniques? Plan is to rent the land at first and then move the modular units to a new site which we can buy.

Also, does anyone have any experience of doing business in Mexico as a foreigner? Any tips?

Coliving is a fast growing movement and I believe it will be bigger than coworking in 5 years. There will be 1 billion digital nomads by 2035. Coliving brands are still in the experimental phase (taking over a house Airbnb style, converting multi-families or new build high rise developments). We should chat as maybe the chance to collaborate with my coliving startup.
