I will check out Dave Ramsey, I am familiar with his debt snowball theory.

I do ok, with the lawn care business, but it's mostly filling a void of funds from my full time job. My wife also has an interest in real estate, and was considering getting licensed to  work as an agent. Our end goal is to have lawn care rolling with enough momentum where I don't have to be present on every job, and the wife and I could work through obtaining rental properties to help our retirement. At some point I'm going to need to leave my full time job and take on the expansion of the lawn care/landscape business.

I guess I am just looking for ideas, or for someone to tell me I have a good plan. I am 33 yrs old, and just starting out, and feel every year counts, and I'm afraid to waste time/years heading down the long path. If there's a shorter or should I say, more certain road I would like to focus on that.

Would either myself or my wife becoming an agent for a company be taking the long way home? I know there is knowledge/experience to be gained, but the amount of knowledge that an agency will bring may be learned here on BP. Or do I benefit from my wife or I being licensed, in essence seeing through our own personal deals rather than using an outside agent?

I would just like to form a solid foundation right out of the gate.

I am originally from Long Island, NY.  Three years ago I took an interest in real estate and found biggerpockets. Two years ago I took a leap and bought my first house, which I live in currently, in Magnolia, DE. Since moving here two years ago I have took a major decrease in pay, and was forced to finally file bankruptcy 6 months ago. I am now stable financially, and am working on restoring credit. I've started a small business doing lawn care, and work a full time job as well. I want to move forward with my original plans on buying and holding real estate, however, my credit, and lack of cash are not up to par at this time. I am writing this for any advice, strategies, or scenarios someone may have to offer. Dave

Hey, brand new myself. Just stumbled in cause I saw Suffolk, ny.
I'm in farmingville. Not that I'm any help, but nice to see a local long islander.
I have a partner I am starting out with, and currently looking for a buy and hold property in Suffolk. Anyway, good luck too you.
