It has been a busy last couple of months. Some major capital expenses on my one rental property, getting our finances combined and DTI in a much more favorable light for the next purchse. I have also been reading everything that I can get my hands on; Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cash Flow Quadrant, Richest Man in Babylon, 10x rule, Set for Life and Long-Distance Real Estate Investing. I agree with your points of view, @Bradon L, in those posts. I have a few short term things to wrap up and then really want to get back after properties.

@Zane Zeigler I appreciate the kind words and the ability to bounce ideas off of you.  I am still trying to formulate a couple solid questions I have, so I can be more direct.  I want to be respectful of everyones time on here and need to do my homework prior to firing off a ton of questions that can easily be answered by me educating myself.  Good luck on finding your next deal!

@Dan Barli I have always been a nerd for investment knowledge and with a 110 mile a day commute to work, the podcast has been right up my alley. I have gotten tired of radio offering me nothing and want to use my spare time in a way that can add value later on. Back to reading before the fiancé gets home! Daymon

@Kenneth McKeown I made a promise to my soon to be wife that the primary house would be off the table for a source of equity or whatnot. We have horses, goats, chickens etc, so we aren’t really in a position for another house hack. Knowing that ahead of time, it has got my wheels turning on options to raise the potential 20-25% that would be needed. I appreciate the information, regarding approaching meet ups with caution. Thank you for your service as well. Daymon

Thank you @Ryan Blake, I will be looking at attending local meet ups after our wedding is behind us.

Hello everyone,

My name is Daymon Olson and my very soon to be wife, Lisa, live in a rural area, west of Fort Worth. I am a retired military veteran.  We have a single family house hack, my old house, that has opened our eyes to that various benefits of having rental property.  My day to day job is as a critical facility engineer for a data center, with my specialty being HVAC and commercial electrical.  My goal is to create passive income that isn't directly linked to the stock market, so Lisa and I can relax in the next 12-15 years.  I came about Bigger Pockets just this past week.  I realized my podcast app wasn't enabled for data and once I enabled it, Bigger Pockets came up as the first recommendation.  Over this past week I have listened to the Podcast for about 4-5 hours a day.  I have printed off the "Ultimate Beginners Guide" and "How to Buy a Duplex- The Ultimate Step by Step Guide" and have ordered "Finding and Funding Great Deals" to get me a little up to speed on making informed decisions.  I want to be able to buy a duplex in the next 12-18 months and grow to triplexes or quads from there, eventually.

I will be sifting through all the knowledge I am finding on here and at some point, I will be reaching out with questions or asking for clarification.  Thank you for providing this forum to learn and grow and I look forward to talking to some of you in the future.
