While I'm not in your local area, I wanted to give you the same "big welcome" members here were kind enough to give me. Good luck on your endeavors. Hopefully you find much of the content here as helpful as it has for me, and that you can successfully connect with others in your area who can help. Cheers.

@Joaquin Camarasa I found this publication by HUD https://www.huduser.gov/portal/sites/default/files/pdf/DisplacementReport.pdf which towards the end of the paper outlines policies implemented in DC. Of course this is a subject I'm not expert in and need to learn more about, however my initial thoughts beyond addressing affordable housing and gentrification are injecting capital into those communities, improving access to education and occupational training, and encourage entrepreneurship. These aren't new ideas of course, so I would love connecting with anyone you may know who are solving these problems and get their perspective.

@Taylor Bishop I only discovered BP recently by asking a friend who's already investing in real estate for advise. There's definitely a lot of helpful content available here that helps break through a lot of the clutter and find pathways to get started. On a side note, my family and I visit Williamsburg several times a year (well before COVID-19), which isn't that far from Hampton Roads. Let's keep the dialogue going and maybe connect some time soon about those regions.

@Beck Joyner I'd be open to connecting about the Harrisburg market. I've been evaluating the regional data available here for a 20,000 ft view https://datausa.io/profile/geo/harrisburg-city-&-colonial-park-puma-pa economic and housing trends in the region. I was browsing the HUD lists and someone already contacted me yesterday about those, but I'm open to other opportunities in addition to those.

"Hello BP World". As the description suggests, I currently live in Arlington VA and am new to real estate investing, but not necessary new to real estate since I've bought and sold some properties already. I grew up in Harrisburg PA and am currently working on a business plan to develop rentals there and with a minor focus on flipping. Currently I manage global operations teams in media measurement and analytics, which is my current day job and sometimes night and weekend jobs.

Real estate interests me as a hobby and as a potential alternative to investing in stocks, bounds, and cash. I've also recently discovered a passion for analyzing dynamics of the real estate market, and correlating city/county/state level demographics with those housing trends which I hope can help me make better decisions when deciding which neighborhoods to enter, and potential opportunities to develop. At some point in the distant future I hope to develop rentals and flips in the Northern Virginia area, and also establish a foundation helping low income families gain a footing in the real estate market.

Thanks and I look forward to meeting you all.
