@Joe Sillaman Just curious on how you were able to purchase property for investment if it was other than your primary residence using the VA loan. Also, does having a RE license help in finding properties locally and on the mainland?

I friend of mine is is using HELOCs as leverage in his properties. He has said the leverage and discipline of using a HELOC is both rewarding and challenging.

Ive suggested to my active duty coworkers to look at purchasing properties in Hawaii.  Although the purchase prices are higher than on the mainland, it could be rented out when they PCS somewhere else.

Heard about BP about 6 months ago, but just recently started listening to the podcasts. Currently, im married and with 2 young children, I work full-time, and attend college full-time, Im here on BP to learn about real estate investing. Although Ive bought my home through VA, juggling the mortgage, credit cards and other expenses, I want to pay down my debts so I would be able to get a HELOC to expand and buy other homes. There's alot of information to learn from this website's resources, but its information that will help me attain my goals.
