That’s a good point @Michael Baum. I am just beginning my journey in STR and reason I was choosing those location was my accessibility.
I have read Avery carls book and going through some podcast. I am interested in Regional Drivable locations.
Do you have any recommendations on how do get started on finalizing the location - some data or tools that can help me make my due diligence ?
Also, where do you get the Market saturation data from ? Does AirDNA also provide with those insights?

Hello All,
I've been thinking about investing in a short term rental. Some place that I can reasonably visit myself if need be on a weekend. I live in the Bay Area and have been focusing on regions outside Yosemite national park to do my research. Mariposa, Oakhurst and Twain’s Heart and Arnold areas.
I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with short term rentals in this area. If so I'd love to hear about your experience and what you like/dislike about the area.
I'd also like to know if you have any agents you've worked with that I could reach out to. I'd love to get a referral that you trust.
Looking forward to hearing your stories!

Quote from @Nick Rutkowski:
@Blaine Watson
If this is your first Airbnb, get it as close to you as you can. You’ll have more control and faster access to your property instate rather than having to head out of state. You’re shooting for experience more than making a profit. However, don’t sink yourself either. Look for affordable to slightly discounted and needs a little elbow grease. After you do a little updating, go to a 2nd hand store for furniture and decor. If you’re design blind like me, have your better half handle the decor. My partner handles the interior design, our guests love how nice our units look. My first BnB was a duplex for 32k. Now it makes 35k/year, it’s my golden goose.
As I said, feel free to ask my anything about Airbnbs/STRs.
Hi Nick,
I'm also beginning my STR journey. I have read the book STRLong term wealth by Avery Carl. One thing she mentions a lot is asking for references. Did you also start your business based on references?
