Post: In contract with a house with a main beam and footer issue

In contract with a house, had the inspection complete and it uncovered that some footers need to be replaced (sitting on cinder blocks and on soil) and the main beam has a slight bow in it.  Purchasing the house from an estate, after owner passed away.  Im at the point of negotiating, from other experiences, is it worth paying $750 for a structural engineer to come out, or just to have a specialized contractor come out to provide the proposal for repair?
