Thanks everyone for the insight.

Ray S. I will be working at Miami Beach Golf Club so fairly central I would think.  I'm open to where I hang my hat but do have a friend that lives by Island View Park so it might be nice to be a little close to him.  I'm grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks all for the replies! I will be working in Miami Beach. I don’t see me having the funds/income to get a loan for $400k+, so is renting my only option?

Shared? Studio? One Bedroom? Is $1500 a more reasonable rate to get a place on Miami Beach?

I'll be moving to Miami for work at the start of the new year.  I will be there for 1-2 years and possibly return there for the winters.  I am a golf professional so I typically snowbird for work.  I am currently out of state and am curious what the best course of action is.  I've been meaning to get into real estate investing and if I could turn this opportunity into something that could eventually make me money or even house hack for the time I'm there, that would be great.

Things I'm looking for:

Low Budget ~ 1,200/month

Good Neighborhood ~ is this possible on the budget?

Rental Property during the summer in 2 years ~ How plausible is it to acquire tenants for the summer in this area?

Grateful for any advice on this topic.  Thank you!

Hello BP!

I am brand spanking new to real estate but certainly see the benefits of investing and growing money in this market.  I have: cash for down payments (low-mid 5 figures), desire to succeed in real estate and time to devote to educating myself on real estate and also finding a good property to invest in.  I would like to start with a duplex and live in one of the units (house hack - do I have that terminology right?).  What I don't have is a steady job and a reliable source of income as I relocate every 6 months as a golf professional (FL for the winters and New England [VT for now] for the summers - I dig it though!).  I do okay on income but it varies with private lessons (cash/1099 [indy contractor]). Anyway, it would seem this is an obstacle for me to acquire a bank loan to make my first real estate investment.  How else can I get the money?

Thanks,

Drew
