When it comes to that Drake area, are most of the potential tenants college kids or growing families/couples? I recently read the article of How to Screen Tenants, and I believe that location would be a place that that information would be vital. 

There are so many available properties that you can find just by driving around, so it will be very beneficial for you to be located in the area. I know in the West Des Moines area, you can find a number of properties being sold by owner. Now if some of them are a quality deal is something I have not researched enough. 

@Justin Daniel my partner and I are actually very interested in the SFR portion of real estate. How is the rental market in the Drake area? Living in West Des Moines, I only know downtown areas through what I have heard through the rumor mill, which never seems to be the most accurate information.

First off, I have already found the amazing utility that is the BiggerPockets Community. My current job is a home designer for a production home builder in the Des Moines area. I am currently working on obtaining my real estate license with a partner to explore other business ventures. We both young and energetic individuals looking to build a great amount of success and wealth using the real estate platform.

Through our research and use of the free articles as well as podcasts here in the BiggerPockets Community, we have identified buy and hold rental properties as an avenue we believe to be achievable and potentially successful. We also believe that flipping properties is another option that could work due to a close relationship that we have with a private investor/contractor.
