Post: Making your portfolio into a public company

Hello!
I am fully aware that when investing in real estate it is a common occurrence that the handling of the property is done through an LLC. However, I am unaware if it is possible to have all of your portfolio owned by one company, assuming that the portfolio is a reasonable size, and then for that company to become public, e.g people can buy shares in it. Would this be possible? the company would not sell any products, and its only income would be from the return on your investment, eg rent. And if it were possible, would loans for each house, if you don't have the funding from shares, be much harder to get. And is residential property able to be purchased by a corporate company?
