Hi @Derek Duplechin! We're practically neighbors! My cousin who is a successful real estate investor in Hammond recommended BP to me and the podcasts. I am ready to really dive deep. There is so much to learn but I really love it! I've spent over 30 years as a software engineer in the 8 to 5 grind and although it has earned a good living for me, it has not provided me the financial freedom I need to retire. So, now I am focusing my analytical skills on real estate investing. I firmly believe in people working together to help one another be successful. That is what networking is all about. Thank you for welcoming me here. It's great to meet you!

Hi there @Ross Kalmbach! Thank you for the great tip! As soon as I firmly decide on what area I will be investing in, I will definitely set up some keyword alerts. Once I have made a decision, I may ask for your advice on particularly effective keywords, of you don't mind. Have you had much success with keywords in finding good investment deals?

Thank you so much for your most kind offer of assistance @Tom Ott! I must admit, I wasn't expecting to meet so many wonderful helpful experts so quickly! It just goes to show you how great BP is as a grassroots real estate investing/networking platform. I'm so excited to be here and just to have made the commitment to do what it takes to reach my goals while meeting fantastic people in the process. I am the kind of person that believes in sharing and helping others as I believe to help others is to also help yourself. Looking forward to growing our knowledge and relationship here on BP!

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. This is my very first posting. My name is Ed Becnel. I am new to real estate investing (a "newbie"). I live in Covington, Louisiana. I am 56 years old and am a senior advisor software engineer (computer programmer). I recently attended a weekend seminar entitled "Success in Real Estate". The information presented by the "guru" seemed too good to be true. I suspected that this was a trap to get people to pay an extremely large tuition fee for advanced education. After researching this online, my gut feeling was right, so luckily, I avoided this trap and a spending a bundle of money. So, I am here now to learn the right way and to network with others. I am looking forward to interacting with you, growing in knowledge, and sharing with you. Right now, I want to learn the fundamentals of real estate investing. I have already downloaded and begun reading the free beginners guide to real estate book. Thank you for taking time to read my introduction!
