This is the best place I have found to start. I took another real estate mogul's course and then they wanted thousands to "buy in". You can learn everything from here for free or pay a couple hundred dollars a YEAR for access to everything on Bigger Pockets, which is quite a lot of resources.
I live on Long Island and understand the trepidation. It is different here. Homes and taxes are incredibly high and the market isn't that great but there are deals everywhere and it just takes knowing where and how to find them, which you can learn here.
When some "mogul" is going to charge me an amount that I could have used to buy a home, I would choose the latter every time. Not saying these people are rip offs, I don't know. I would simply advise that if you buy low and sell high, you are doing it right.

I agree. I see nothing wrong with Phil asking for the money if he is trying to link together with other well established investors from around the US, but that does sound kind of steep for someone who is more than likely just getting in the game, as his training courses would attract new people rather than established investors, who really do not need training usually.
Phil seems like a great guy and his free courses are great and many people, including myself, appreciate the free intro into the business. He does have a passion for real estate and is an excellent teacher.
From a business standpoint, I see the rationality of asking for the money. It guarantees people who are serious and pushes away people who are prone to quitting, and who should probably never be attempting to start a business in the first place.
From a new investors view, my personal view is it is too much money. That money could make or break a business and I would personally choose to put it in my own business, getting a brokerage license or local education rather than another training course, even if it is called an apprenticeship. Everyone has their own feelings about these things and all you can really say is think it through thoroughly before making a decision on it. Good luck either way!

I have to say.. I went through Freedom Mentor's free course which I thought was a good course for free.. The I applied for the Apprentice Program and no one called.. I emailed Phil about this and still have not received an answer. I did not tell him anything about my financial status as I am aware that there are scams out there.. Which may be the reason he never contacted me back. I don't know. I wanted to see what it was all about. I thought it was strange that there were no recent comments on the free training site. All of them were about a year old. Where are the new students I asked myself?
In the end.. I recommend taking the free course and then finding a local REI in your area to learn the advanced training. For the thousands of dollars you have to spend.. it is obviously not worth it. You can use that money for investing!
I won't say whether Phil is scamming people or not, as I never paid into it, but you have to ask WHY does it cost so much money for the training upfront if you are going to get this wonderful mentorship that will most certainly make you rich and then split it 50/50. If he is as rich and successful as he claims, why not make the mentorship at an affordable cost because surely the 50/50 split would make both you and him a large amount of money.
