I am looking into buying a duplex in a strong rental market in a great location but there is a new multifamily development that is scheduled to start construction later this year on the property right behind the duplex (line of trees behind to separate but traffic would go through street in front) . It is only 27 units and definitely Class A from specs I've seen. The duplex is a very nice 3/2 with garage, big backyard and is in great shape so could potential be in the same ballpark with rent as the new development. Will this new development hurt the property or can I benefit from the new development?
