Should I start a career in real estate in order to start investing in real estate? As the title states, I’m considering trying to earn a license in real estate as either a broker or agent. My decision for this is based on the knowledge I could gain while earning money at the same time that I would use towards investing. The goal would be to ultimately invest into rental properties and such so I could become financially independent. I know this is more of a personal decision, but is there anyone here on BP who has taken a similar route? What are the Pros and Cons?

Hello everyone, my name is Edy Venzor and I am just getting started with real estate. I currently live in Denver, Colorado and have lived here for the past 8 years. Before that I grew up in Eagle, Colorado so really I have lived in Colorado my whole life. I work as a purchasing clerk for the Four Seasons Hotel Denver and focus mainly on buying the beverage for the property including wine, liquor, beer, soda, water, etc. However, I am here on BiggerPockets because I like many others have different goals than what my profession can give me. I have no experience whatsoever and do not own any property, however, my goal is to get into multifamily properties and fix and flips. As a newcomer with no experience or money, this is quite intimidating but I am committed to learning. Lastly, I came onto BiggerPockets through a friend who is a member of BP and also through initially listening to the BP podcast.

P.S. I have already read through The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing and am currently reading the Book on Investing in Real Estate with No or Low Money Down but would appreciate any advice anyone has on other reading material, videos, articles, or seminars I as a newcomer can learn from.
