I am looking to purchase a foreclosure in Scranton, PA that needs to be renovated. Can anyone give me some insight on the market? Is it better to fix and rent or is fix and flip feasible in this area. I am from NY so I'm not too knowledgeable on Scranton just yet..
i am also interested in the monticello area. Any insight??

Hello, My area is way out of reach right now also. I've been mainly focusing on NE Pennsylvania. I have family up there. I've been going there since i was a kid so i know at least a little about it. Plus the price ranges are so much easier to deal with and the commute isn't bad.
Does anyone have experience with foreclosures in NE Pennsylvania? There are so many foreclosures... What is the lowest you can offer? I have a friend in arrowhead lakes that said people are low balling the banks offering 50% and they are accepting.
Thank you all for your welcome and insight. I am definitely into full renovations as this is what we do for a living. Honestly i would be perfectly happy making 10/20k for a flip. I know it's no longer a get rich quick industry but my goals inthis is to make a decent living, more country less city life for my kids and not dealing with customers anymore! I'm over renovations for someone else. :)
Hello everyone! Im new to biggerpockets. I live in NYC but I have spend my life with summers and weekends in PA. I have about 30k cash on hand and my husband is a contractor here in NY. I'd like to buy a small rehab property in PA and flip it but I don't know the communities well enough. I know APCP has a bad rep and Pocono Farms too, but are they really as bad as they say? What areas have the best chance of resell once our rehab is complete? My biggest fear is not being able to sell it. Any and all info is truly appreciated...
Thanks all!!
