Royal Oak only does an exterior inspection.

Thanks! I figure I can also call the city to learn what's being inspected.

Quote from @Michael Smythe:

If you are just renting a room out is MAY be ok.

You could have issues if you try to evict the roommate though. The judge may ask for your rental license and if you don't have one, they can deny your eviction case for past due rent (7-day).

Then you would need to start an Eviction for Possession (30-day).

Do you happen to know what kind of inspection do they usually do? It doesn't look like there is much resources online about an inspection guideline. I am not sure what are they looking for. Since the inspection cost money, I'd like to make sure everything is check out before scheduling them to come in for an inspection.

Hello,

First time home owner and looking to house hack in RO area. I was researching and came across RO requires rental inspection done biannually for all rental units. I was not able to find anything about the requirement if renting a room out.

Knowing that there are quite a bit of members are in SE Michigan here, can anyone shine some insights or share some info if house hacking require a rental inspection?

Thank you very much!
