Thank you Josh. Calling this site valuable to a new investor is an understatement!
Brandon - regarding your question, I'm going this week to meet with a couple of local agents. I also have an eye on Two attached twin properties near me for sale by the same owner. Might be a good turnkey opportunity? We'll see.
Thanks.

Thanks Mehran. With all the materials out there it's nice to have a list of those which BP feels to be the best. I have to say I already have a few of these under my belt, and am currently working on J. Scott's flipping series. While I haven't actually purchased any guru courses, I can't imaging that they offer anything more complete on the subject than these books.
I have also read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, which in my mind is a must read for any living soul. They should make this mandatory reading for high school students.
Also, while not real estate related per say, I would also highly recommend Napoleon Hills Think and Grow Rich to anybody involved in any form of entrepreneurship. (There's an excellent 99 cent digital version on amazon which comes with unabridged audio files.)

Hello All,
I wanted to introduce myself to the BP community. I am 46 years old and living in South Jersey. I have enjoyed what most would consider a very successful career working in the pharmaceutical industry, where I have specialized in Corporate Finance, Business Development and Licensing, and M&A. Last October, I was laid off as part of a large corporate restructure. In Hindsight, this was a blessing in disguise, as shortly thereafter I un-expectantly became a single parent, and can no longer afford the lifestyle that came with my career (international travel, long hours, etc).
I spent the last 8 months home with the children, while trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. (I'm very fortunate to be in a position to be able to afford to do this). I did deep due diligence on several franchise opportunities, as well as some other business ventures. I have recently come to the determination that I will focus on real estate investing, which is something that I always wanted to do. As my immediate goal is to replace my current income (vs building long term wealth), I am leaning toward beginning with rehabbing.
I consider myself incredible lucky to have stumbled on this site, prior to investing any real money with the Gurus. I have been through the beginners guide, and am currently half way through the BP Guide to flipping houses. Really awesome stuff here. The podcasts, blogs, everything. I'm soaking it all up at a very quick pace.
Anyway, that's it for now. I am very much looking forward to getting started with my new career, and interacting with this board in the future.
