My wife and I are in the process of purchasing a condo for my mother in law to live in. Through the use of the strategies I learned on BP I found an off market deal from a landlord that is wanting to sell. 

We have also been working with a family friend who is a realtor to assist her in finding a MLS condo that she likes. The off market deal I found is far more desirable to her than anything on the MLS.

I would like to include this realtor somehow so he is compensated for his work. This will be my first time acquiring an off market deal and my understanding is that I don’t need a realtor in the transaction process. Is this assumption correct? Is there anyway I can include him on the transaction that’ll safe guard us and also compensate him for his work?
