Post: Buy wants to close on damaged house

Hello all,  I am under contract to purchase a foreclosure.  The only contingency was to remove a large tree that hung over the house.  The tree company dropped a large piece on the front porch doing quite a bit of damage.  The bank now wants to close on the property, will not extend, and we can deal with the insurance claim ourselves.  Our agent sees no problem with this.  The tree service assures us the claim is in place and the damage will get fixed.  If there is a problem we will have no legal recourse that I can see.

This house was built by my parents and I own the front acreage.  I do want the house but I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

I looked at the rejection letter forwarded to me from my agent and they are from HomePath not the listing agent so I would take that to mean they did receive my bid.  I thank you all for your responses. This is so upsetting as I really loved that house.  I will have to talk to my agent.

My agent said he submitted the offers on line and then he would forward me the rejection or counter from the listing agent.

No stipulations, 10 day inspection and this was to be my primary residence.

Hello all.  I have been reading this forum to gain some insight into bidding on a homepath home.  Lots of great advice here, so thank you.

I noticed a Fannie Mae home that I bid on and lost was back on the market.  I rebid and lost, again. I checked today and it sold for $40,000 less than my all cash offer.

How could this be?
