The VA will be my primary resident and I'm going to rent my current house which is only in my wife name. She bought it before we married. I was working with a guy at Shore mortgage but the man retired and I was dumped on to another man and now the service I'm getting or lack of is terrible. So, I'm looking for someone to work with that can meet my needs.

Would like to know if any one had or knew a good lending group in the downriver Michigan area that deals with first time VA loans?

If you're interested in investing in Detroit you need to have boots on the ground and drive the areas. I work in Detroit and I can tell you that there are areas that are drop dead gorgeous mansions you can only dream of owning but three blocks away the neighborhood is burnt down. There is also money in Detroit, problem is most people have bad credit. If it where me and I wanted to invest in the city, I'd drive my area's to pick my locations. Hit up the local churches and talk to the pastors and preachers. they will give your leads to people who have the money and will pay on time. still, Your going to have to be on top of the property constantly. I'd also stay away from section 8. I've heard to many problems with tenants up and leaving without notice and landlord fighting with the state for the money owed.

I'm surprised no one mentioned using the search platform. Any time I've had a question I've just typed it in to the platform and...BAM! Answered. This is why I don't have many post yet have learned more information than any "Program" can provide.
Thank you Dan For your contribution to this topic as I too was wondering about doing this.

I signed up for the mentoring program as well. I never got a call so I called them. After answering a lot of questions which I assume were to motivate me into saying yes, they hit me with the cost. They were having a "special" so it was only 5k and 50% of what I made up to $500,000.00 or 200 sales. I haven't made a purchase yet, but all of my questions have been answered here just by using the search engine.

WOW! No joke I just did jury duty for Wayne county for a similar case. landlord and friend went to evict tenant and the tenant was accused of shooting the two men. Welcome to Detroit!
