@Torey Chumbley after re-reading I can see your point about resolving potential disputes. I'm planning to have a property manager (I'm assuming 15-20%) and factoring that in to see if a potential deals pencil out.

@Torey Chumbley maybe I'm misinterpreting Placer County's STR ordinance, but I read that if you're within 24 hours of the property to address any issues you're consider "local". I see that you're in Cameron Park so I would consider that local. I'm in Roseville and I'm trying to buy my first STR in Tahoe as well. I might have the interpretation of the code wrong.

@Ilan M Aliphas thank you for sharing your experience! I was considering buying in the county but was reluctant because fear that occupancies would be low.

@Andy C. I definitely think its possible to STR in Tahoe. I've used AIRDNA to help analyze some deals and I'm seeing gross revenues in the 50 to 55k range. I can't speak to Donner/Truckee area, but that's also a great place that I would think you could STR.

My main goal is to get a few STR that I can then use the cash flow to fund some LTR deals closer to home. Appreciation would be nice, but that's not my main objective. But as you know, California real estate always appreciates.

I'm looking in the Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach and South Lake Tahoe as well. Hoping to connect with like-minded investors as well.
