I am looking to buy a multi family in Brooklyn, NY. I know there are many things to know before hand.
I’ve been listening to the BP podcast, reading, listening to RE audiobooks, watching the webinars, etc.
Any advices and suggestions for my 1st RE Property?
Thank you so much!
Gabriela

Hi @Steven Luttman
I guess it will all depend how far I’m willing to go. If it’s an hour drive distance then I rather manage it myself BUT if it’s farther than that I will definitely consider hiring a property manager.
But first I must do my research where to buy this property and if it will be affordable or not.

After reading many suggestions I’m looking to buy a single family house in Upstate New York. Since I live in Brooklyn it might be easier for me to manage it.
Is anyone familiar with Upstate New York? Any advice/suggestion will be very appreciated!
Thank you!

I live in Brooklyn, NY and prices here are high. I’ve been looking in NY and also in Miami, FL but I’m still debating if I should get an 1BR apartment (Condo) or a single family house. Any suggestions?
I have 50K saved and 700+ credit score
Basically what are the pros and cons between the two of them?
Thank you!

Hi @Jaquetta Turner I see you are from North Carolina! I’ve been there once and I loved it! Being surrounded by nature is just amazing. A couple months ago I was looking for a property in NC just to look and I loved them! One of my goals is to own a house there to travel when I want to get away from everybody
I don’t own my own house YET, I do have money saved, my credit is good and I’m still learning how to look for a good deal even though I need to learn how to use the calculator.
Thank you so much for your response

Hi @Roger Loesel - well I’m looking for financial freedom as we all are. Among of my many goals I would like to get out the rat cage and have money working for me.
I've asking around where are good areas to buy my property because I've been doing my research in New York and many properties are going down. First, I wanted to buy an apartment in a Co-op or Condo in the city BUT the HOA alone goes between $2,5k and $3k plus mortgage monthly so that was a big NO. I still rent myself, that's why I was looking for an apartment to buy and pay mortgage instead of rent but then I came across the book on rental property investing and everything started from there.
I have money saved to invest on my first property without asking for a loan. I would like to start small and learn in the process so I have more knowledge when I buy my 2nd property.
Finding my first property in NY would be ideally BUT like I said if I want to buy a single family somewhere in the area the prices go up to 1Million +
Do you happen to know an agent in NY that you could refer me to?

Thank you @Mikael Winkler. You are totally right, everyone is different and that’s the beauty of it. I like different! Also do you think is a good time to buy now? Just wondering since we are in the middle of a pandemic and presidential elections?
