Depending on the country, you might face local taxes. Reciprocal tax agreements between governments might also be in place.

Finding a suitable accountant and attorney is going to be a challenge. PM me the country and if I can help further I will.

Chances are the first were thrown away unread. Your new layout might draw a few more eyes. From what I have seen online, the majority of people have to send multiple times to a list before they get any serious responses. I get a lot of these in my post and as I don't want to sell, they are binned. When the time comes to sell I will start taking note of them. I guess the majority of absentee landlords are the same and just not ready.

@Amy Webber

“HelloFax, the Web site that finally liberates us from the worst gadget on earth.”

Thanks for your response.  The only gotcha I see is that hello fax only allows you 5 pages of fax(es).  After those you would pay .99c for 10 pgs and  .20c thereafter.  Now can I port my number, is my next search.

Thank you Amy,

Gary

edit: Cannot receive fax on the free service, unfortunately.

2017 and we still need faxes! I have had a fax service for 6 years and have just entered the seventh. For the last 6 years I have paid $60 per year for a service that I have used perhaps twice a year.  I always gave in for ease and the fact I had a physical number, but when you looking at the cost per fax it is exorbitant.

Today I received an email that stated my service cost was rising to $160 and they billed me on the same day.... umm no! Not in this lifetime can I justify this!

So, after that preamble. What do you have and use, and what can anyone recommend for me?

I would like to keep the number (biz cards etc...) but I am not stuck to it. What is not stupidly expensive for 2-3 faxes a year with hopefully a ported number?

  • Fedex fax services as needed?
  • Start a new service? (online search shows range from $4.95 excl tax (so $80pa!) to $15+pm.)
  • Buy a fax card or machine and add that to my telephone line?
  • anything else?

Thanks,

Where does title insurance fit into all of this?  At some point a person did the work and some title company agreed to sign off on this.

@Chris T.

Yeah after reading the 'car' aspect I understand why. I have three drivers under 25 on my policy.

I would love to hear how so many get $1m in cover for $180-250pa

I have $500k cover with my car insurer and the extra $500k umbrella taking me to $1m, costs me close to $1k pa.

Obviously I am either high risk or I am doing something wrong.  Currently I only have a single rental along with my primary.

 Thanks Gents.  What I thought, just wanting to be safe

I have a LLC for my newly acquired property, Closing is in a weeks time. I would like to ask if someone could point me towards how I should fund this LLC so that I don't 'pierce the veil' between my private funds that I will need to use to buy and rehab the property.

thanks in advance

(please excuse any slow responses from my end)

 That is nonsense really, everybody aspires to more valuable homes and this is not about someone buying a home in the current market at the current value and tax rate. When the market runs away and you are forced out of a home that you have been in for 10+ years because your W2 has not kept up with inflation, let alone stupid market forces; then, what you say is heartless. Yes taxes need to increase, but at these unsustainable rates it is morally wrong. Major market corrections (local/national) always hurt the economy more deeply than softer smaller swings and corrections. Sustainable and natural increases in tax and growth are far more healthy in the longer term.  The next crash may put a whole lot of investors and realtor's against the wall. There are no complaints currently about the growth, but we will hear the crying later. Basically it is greed, one of seven deadly sins - no?

Also, anyone can reduce their income tax, simply downgrade their lifestyle, give away all they have and get a minimum wage job.
