From my understanding it seems it is more difficult to House hack in more expensive areas.

My question is would it be more advantageous to do a live in flip vs a house hack in this scenario. The specific area I’m looking at is jersey city journal square near the path station.

Hi All I am new to real estate and just absorbing all the information on this site at this point. I am finishing my MBA in August and will begin working in NYC. I am from Long Island and will have a tough commute. My first goal is to get into a house hack as soon as possible. From my preliminary research I have determined Jersey City and Yonkers to be the best cities for cash flow within 30 minutes of Manhattan. I am curious to see if others have any recommendations on house hacks? Going forward my long term goal is to acquire a portfolio of rentals to generate cash flow. Thank you!

@Anton Ivanov As someone looking to get into real estate investing I appreciate you sharing your story. I was hoping you could share some additional insights on how you determined Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Kansas City, and Nashville as suitable rental markets. More specifically are there any specific websites or resources out there to study rental markets?

Thank you in advance!

I current live in a Western suffolk rental. The rent is $2900 and the property was last sold for $460k according to Zillow. This is far off from the “1% rule” however I do not know the landlords mortgage so this may still be a good investment.
