My family and I are about to sell a house we inherited. Myself and another family member are splitting sale. My question is do I have to use all of money made from the sale on the exchange? Or can I just use whatever I receive from sale. For example Sale price 100000 I get 50000 Family gets 50000 New house 150000 Down payment 50000

I bought this house in Westerly last year. My agent wasn't that great he was an older gentlemen and had a hard time with email, edocs, etc. Also he wasn't from the area. However, the selling agent Rhonda Mesenbourg was great. She walked my agent through a ton of newer ways to send and sign docs. She did more for me than my agent did. She went above and beyond for the sellers. If I were to buy or sell again in the area I would no doubt go with her. I cant post her info because of biggerpocket constraints.

If she cant help you out (I would be surprised) I have a buddy who is licensed in CT but knows a ton of agents in RI as we live so close to westerly. I'm sure he can recommend someone.

Hope that helps man. Good hunting and thanks for your service.

Jaclyn Pinnell have you purchased another property yet? Where is your first property? How is that going?

Chris did you end up buying a place yet? I bought my first duplex in westerly a few months ago and got my first tenant in there a few months ago. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll help as best I can.

My family and I have inherited a little over 6 (split 3 ways) acres in Corcovado Puerto Rico. I believe the zoning for the lot is agriculture which I believe is hurting the amount of money we can get for it. I would like to change the zoning to another type another more lucrative type (residential, commercial). Also we would be interested in building a housing community there if possible.

Was wondering if anyone has done anything like this in Puerto Rico. Better yet Corcovado if possible. I'm sure dealing with these small town halls is going to be a pain so I'm hoping someone can give me a hand.

Russ do you feel it was worth the return? What size unit did you add?

I recently purchased a 2 unit multi family property near Westerly RI. Each unit has 2 bed 1 bath. They both also have very large basements. I have been thinking about converting the basements to one bed one bath and renting them as well turning this 2 unit into a 4. Was wondering if anyone has done anything like this before in the area or any area. If so can you please share your story. Would like to know if anyone had any potential pitfalls from this type of addition. Really interested in any code or zoning issues in particular.
