Thanks for the welcomes. I figured the highschool comment would get a reply so let me explain myself a little better. I love learning, and i constantly am learning new things to be able to perform in as many aspects of life as i can. From building a 2 story garage addon to our house (which i have done with only 1 other person.. from the framing to the roofing to the siding to interior), electrical, to computer programming, mechanics (building a 550hp street/strip car right now from the ground up knowing the in-and-outs of every aspect. give me a broken car and i will diagnose and fix it on my own), to multiple investing avenues. Put me next to any college-trained mechanic, computer programmer, web designer, network technician, computer repairman, construction contractor, or internet marketer, and i could carry out a conversation as if i were one of their classmates for years. Im not your average stoned video-game playing dropout - I am a huge believer in education.
Now, the reason i dropped out (just my senior year) is because i completely lost my confidence in the formal education system. Besides psychology and a few business law classes, after 7th grade i learned absolutely nothing worth my time. Not because i "didn't apply myself" but because what they were teaching was so watered down and regurgitated from the previous years that i was deathly bored of it, and a piece of paper (diploma) simply was not worth it to me. Hell, i even had some of my teachers (namely the computer/programming related classes) coming to me for help on a regular basis - how sad is that?
Getting into this, I already am on my way to the process of getting a real estate salesperson license; not just for the license, but i hope the schooling beforehand will be worth he money. I'm going to be very disappointed if its "easy" and follows the shortcomings of public education - ie: watered down and dumbified. I will also pursue any additional knowledge i feel that will help me in this. If you guys have any good suggestions let me know.
Thanks for the links to those two sites. I understand fully about the importance of thinking about what I'm saying before i say it online especially since my usernames are typically linked with my name in one way or another. Its unfortunate how many people are online hiding behind a screen name and using that "security" to be absolute scumbags. Even if someone pisses me off and attacks me personally, I approach it in a respectful manner :)
all cash: Thank you for the suggestion of TX tech program, I will look into it. Would you mind if i could contact you with general questions as they come along (such as suggested lawyers, title companies, etc)? I promise i wont be a nagging newbie lol.
I was invited here by sdavis2702 - good guy!
I am just now getting into real estate and i am soaking up every bit of information I can! I am going to start out wholesaling with the goal to get in the game and eventually do REI full time.
I am 20 years old and have been doing my own business online for the past 5 years mixed between web/software development, hosting, and advertising/marketing. I live in granite shoals, texas.. about 50 miles outside of austin.
Up to this point i have been self reliant, self taught, and "self made".. And while i make decent money for being a high school dropout working from home starting from scratch on my own, Im still not on the track to where I want to be! As i am venturing into this new world of real estate, i am quickly realizing the importance of building relations with people and I would like to make as many contacts and relations as i can in the field; I hope i can begin to do so through these forums as well as get help when i have uncertainties. I am a quick learner and before you know it, i will be the one of the contributors helping others here! :D
