Welcome to BP! NRH is a great area (biased opinion) and you'll find plenty of great BP members around DFW that can help when you're ready to jump in on a house. There are a lot of REI meetups posted here and on meetup.com as well around the metro.

Circling back here in case anybody else comes across the thread, I successfully closed on a duplex to house hack and get this journey started!  Big thanks to @Andrew Postell for the advice and the mortgage, and everyone else I've met and worked with so far.

Thank you Tyler!  I've got a good idea of what my budget looks like now, and have been looking at small multifamily listings online to get familiar with what's out there.  Now that the holidays are behind us I'm ready to get deeper into it and work toward finding a place I can move into by the end of Q1.  I appreciate those that have already made contact, and I'm looking forward to talking to and meeting the RE community here in DFW!

Good afternoon everyone! My name is Gunnar, long time lurker, more recent member, and finally a first time poster. I recently sold my SFH and am now looking forward into jumping to 2-4 unit multifamily that I can live in as well. I've read a lot of books, attended webinars, listened to podcasts, and it's time to actually get off the sidelines.

I've met a couple really helpful people like @Andrew Postell so far, looking forward to meeting a lot more of you!
