I live in Franklin, and I like it, there are values that come up. It's a safe town to live in.
Bellingham can also be good - historically it's been a bit troublesome but in the last decade has continued to improve - I would definitely consider that - stay on the northern half to keep the drive to Needham manageable and it's the better side, IMO.
Norfolk is a good one also. It's a bit upscale and closer to both Needham and Foxboro. Medfield (next to Norfolk) works well also.
@Joe Weinstein - here are some names to get you started:
plumber: the one I used last and liked is not around... let me check a bit on this.
landscaper: for landscape install, bigger stuff - Franklin Landscape Construction. for stuff like mowing, cleanups, etc. Colligan Landscaping
pool: no ideas on this one
electrician: Jeff Walls - can be hard to get hold of, but is easy going, does good work, reasonable prices. Also, Carlos Marini, I've not used him but a friend who's also an investor highly recommended him.
Re @Paul Timmins idea on REIA - excellent advice - the Black Diamond group is great - no charge, no sales pitch, lots of people who really know their stuff - they meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, alternating between Waltham and Worcester. http://www.blackdiamondrealestateinvestors.com/
This site won't let me post their phone numbers, but post back here if you can't locate these folks and I'll get you the info another way.
Good luck!
I live in Franklin, so let me know if you need recommendations on service providers, or anything else around here.
