@keyonte summers Thanks for the response! I guess I should have clarified that I was initially planning to invest in the suburbs of Detroit. I live in garden city currently so I was planning to start close to home like Westland, Livonia, Dearborn/Dearborn Heights. I would however be interested in learning more about investing in the city of Detroit itself as well. A meet up where I could pick the brains of people who have some experience or tips on the best way to get started would be a huge help and I would be glad to organize/help organize a meet.

Hey everyone, My name is Brandon Learning and I am a total newbie when it comes to real estate investing. Currently my only experience in real estate is buying my first home with my wife a few years ago. I am very interested in buying and holding properties and renting. Single family and multi-family both sound like something I would like to get started with. I have been listening to at least one podcast a day and also trying to read as much as I can on the subject. Based on what I’ve seen from the forums there is a ton of valuable information here and I plan to absorb as much as possible. I checked the meet up page and didn’t see any events or meet ups planned for the Detroit area (maybe I just missed something?) but I would be very interested in meeting up with some more seasoned investors and newbies alike to be able to discuss real estate more in depth. I look forward to seeing where this new adventure leads. Thanks for reading!
