Jo-Ann Lapin I appreciate the insight. I've just downloaded the book to my phone so I can read it on the go and any break I get during the workday. When we get settled, I'll look into a local club to mix, mingle and network with.
Thanks again!!

Lane Mobley thanks for the welcome!!! I've listened to one a day the past two days and intend to keep it up. It appears this community is very helpful and encouraging to folks from all walks of life. I'm eager to learn as much as possible.
I will definitely have to take you up on that offer, should I be in your neck of the woods.
Thanks again!

Hello All,
My name Is Parris. I am currently active duty military and interested in getting involved in real estate in the future. As a part of my position in the military, I am heavily involved in construction and an electrician by trade (CE/Seabee). My wife and I haven't yet decided which niche suits our interests the best. I was stationed in California but now I'm currently en route to being stationed overseas for several years. We truly don't have a ton of money to invest at the moment but I've come here first to learn from the various ways folks have started off.
The most real estate experience I have was working for as a lead screener for a mortgage broker several years before I enlisted in the Navy. I have a background in sales and customer service and we are both pursuing business degrees at this time.
Ideally, I would love to invest while still active duty, in some long term real estate options like duplexes, single family homes, commercial multipurpose/multi-unit buildings and eventually development. I realize that before I embark on any journey, I need to educate myself as much as possible and network with subject mater experts, to gain a better grasp and bearing on what each of these niches require of us. At this time, we are looking at getting involved in properties in Texas and Georgia, however that has hardly been finalized.
So long story short, I'm hear to learn and observe the lessons shared here from the many experienced people who are actively engaged in real estate.
I came across BP after noticing a lot of topics I researched online, lead me to one of many blog posts on the website.
I look forward to engaging and sharing with the many knowledgeable and experienced people on this site. I'm excited to see what the future will bring.
